Cloud and infrastructure checklist
Moving servers to the cloud or a hosted provider changes cost, support and risk. These answers outline what would move and what it needs.
- How many users and locations depend on your servers and applications?A rough count is fine.
- What runs on your servers today?File sharing, accounting, ERP, databases, phone system or line-of-business software.
- About how many servers do you have, and are they physical or virtual?Not sure is fine; your IT provider will know.
- Do you already use cloud services?Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, Google, Salesforce or a hosted provider.
- Are you growing, acquiring or planning a change?New sites, new staff or a merger.
- How much management do you want a provider to take on?Just hosting, or monitoring, patching, backups and help desk too.
- Are there licensing or compliance constraints?Software licenses that must move, data residency or industry rules.
Rough answers are fine, and "not sure" is a useful answer. Please don't send account numbers, passwords or full bills; if we need to look at a contract, we'll arrange a safe way to share it.
